Smith Anglin Financial, LLC, is honored to announce it has been named to the 2018 Financial Times 300 Top Registered Investment Advisers. The list recognizes the leading independent RIA firms in the U.S., and is based on data reflecting the organization’s performance. Smith Anglin secured its position with more than $700 million of assets under management (AUM) and a 26 percent revenue increase since 2017, a direct result of its strategic growth plan.
The firm attributes this honor to the dedicated and collaborative efforts of its team, as it upheld the utmost standards in client service and holistic planning solutions, while organically growing its high-net-worth client and aviation employee segments, and completing several acquisitions. In 2017, Smith Anglin reached $650 million in AUM after partnering with Mulvihill Asset Management, and bringing senior wealth advisor, Hank Mulvihill, Jr., CCM®, CWS®, CFP®, to the team. The firm also acquired RMG Capital in 2017, adding $100 million in additional AUM and its newest team member, senior advisor, Gary Shalhoob, CFA. In 2013, Smith Anglin acquired aviation-focused financial advisory firm, Rhoads Lucca Capital, adding FedEx to its airline portfolio and expanding The 401k AutopilotSM program to pilots from major commercial and carrier airlines.
The FT 300 list is produced independently by the Financial Times in collaboration with Ignites Research, a subsidiary of the FT that provides business intelligence on the asset management industry. RIA firms applied for consideration, having met a minimum set of criteria. Applicants were then graded on six factors: assets under management (AUM); AUM growth rate; years in existence; advanced industry credentials of the firm’s advisers; online accessibility; and compliance records. There are no fees or other considerations required of RIAs that apply for the FT 300. The final FT 300 represents an impressive cohort of elite RIA firms, as the “average” practice in this year’s list has been in existence for over 22 years and manages $4 billion in assets. The FT 300 Top RIA firms in 2018 hail from 38 states and Washington, D.C.
